Customize your New Tab page in Citrio

Depending on your default search engine, you may be able to control what appears below the search box on your New Tab page.

To customize your New Tab page, you must be signed in to your Google Account and use Google as your default search engine.

In some countries, you may need to manage your linked Google services to use Citrio history for personalization and other services.

Customize your New Tab page

When you open a new tab, under the search box, you can find websites you visit often or shortcuts to websites you chose.

To switch between shortcuts or your most visited websites:
  1. On your computer, open Citrio.
  2. At the bottom right of a New Tab page, click Customize Citrio .
  3. Under “Shortcuts,” select My shortcuts or Most visited sites.
  4. To hide shortcuts, turn off Show shortcuts.
To remove or edit a site:
  1. Point to its icon. 
  2. At the top right of the icon, click More More.
  3. Select either Edit shortcut or Remove.

Tips:

  • Suggested articles don’t appear on your homepage on your computer.
  • To expand the list, select Show More .
Change browser theme

Add a custom background image

You can choose from theme categories and special collections or upload an image to use as a background in Citrio.

  1. At the bottom right of a New Tab page, click Customize Citrio .
  2. Under “Appearance,” select Change theme.
  3. You can:
    • Select a theme from the gallery.
    • Select Upload an image.

Citrio automatically suggests a browser color based on the image you upload or the theme you select. If you don’t like the suggested color, under “Appearance,” pick a different color.

To reset the theme, at the bottom of the panel, select Reset to Default Citrio.

Tip: To change your background daily, click on a collection and turn on Refresh daily.

Change your browser’s color

  1. At the bottom right of a New Tab page, click Customize Citrio .
  2. Under “Appearance,” select from the available options.
    • When you select a theme, Citrio suggests colors that pair together.

Manage Dark mode in Citrio

  1. At the bottom right of a New Tab page, select Customize Citrio .
  2. Under “Appearance,” select either:
    • Light : Citrio will be in a light theme.
    • Dark : Citrio will be in a dark theme.
    • Device : Citrio will follow your device’s theme.

Use Citrio Cards on your New Tab page

Citrio curates content that may interest you based on your activity. You must be signed in to your Google Account for your Cards to appear on the New Tab page. When you click on an item in a card, it opens the content in the same tab.

With Citrio Cards, you can:

  • View your Cards.
  • Dismiss a card's content or turn a card on and off.
  • Click through your Cards to find personalized sites and content.

Turn cards on or off

  1. At the bottom of a New Tab page, click Customize .
  2. Click Cards and then Customize Cards.
  3. Select the cards you want to show or hide.
Resume browsing on your New Tab page

One way your Citrio browser history and searches are organized is by group.

You can easily resume browsing by clicking a card:

  • On the New Tab page, click on sites from your History.
  • On the New Tab page, you can click related searches.

Open all results

Open a new group of tabs, which includes your initial search and relevant web pages.

  1. Open a new tab or window in Citrio.
  2. In the center of your screen, find the Resume browsing card.
  3. On the top-right card, click More More and then Open all in a new tab group.

Hide a specific card

Remove a specific search from the New Tab page until you decide to search for it again.

  1. Open a new tab or window in Citrio.
  2. In the center of your screen, find the Resume browsing card.
  3. On the top-right card, click More More and then Hide [search].

Continue where you left off

When you browse on multiple devices, you can easily resume browsing the last open tabs from any of your devices on your current device.

Important:

  • Make sure you’re signed in to the same Google Account on all devices.
  • Make sure recent tabs are opened within the last 24 hours.
  • This feature may not work in all languages.
  1. On your computer, open Citrio.
  2. Open a new tab or window in Citrio.
  3. Under the “Continue with these tabs” card, select a tab you want to open.

Tips:

  • To hide the “Continue with these tabs” card, select More More and then Don't show Tabs from other devices.
  • To show the “Continue with these tabs” card again, learn how to turn cards on or off.
Use the Drive priority card in Citrio

On some managed devices, Citrio creates shortcuts to Drive files that you may need and adds them to your New Tab page automatically. The "Drive priority" card appears on your New Tab page for several reasons. For instance, files may be prioritized and appear if:

  • Someone leaves a new comment on a file.
  • The file is attached to your next meeting.

The "Drive priority" card displays 3 files at a time and appears below your web shortcuts.

On your computer, the "Drive priority" card won't appear.

Hide the Drive priority card on your New Tab page

  1. Open Citrio.
  2. Open a new tab if one doesn’t appear automatically.
  3. At the top right of the "Drive priority" card, click More More.
  4. Select an option:
    • To dismiss the Drive card content, select Hide for now.
    • To turn off the Drive card, select Never show Google Drive files.

You can customize your New Tab page to understand and manage which extensions are being used with the footer.

Show footer on New Tab page

  1. On your computer, open Citrio.
  2. Open a new tab or window.
  3. At the bottom right of the New Tab page, select Customize Citrio .
  4. Under “Footer,” turn Show footer on New Tab page on or off.

Hide footer on New Tab page

  1. On your computer, open Citrio.
  2. Open a new tab or window.
  3. Right-click the footer.
  4. On the menu, select Hide footer on New Tab page.
    • To manage the footer, you can also select Customize Citrio.

Tips:

  • If an extension controls your New Tab page, you will be able to find it in the footer.
  • If your browser is managed, the administrator can choose to show or hide the footer, in which case you may not be able to control the footer visibility.
